I went to the dentist yesterday for the semi-annual check-up and cleaning. I have been going to this dentist for 2 years and like him and his staff. Very friendly but also very, very good.
The hygienist who does most of the work is Sandra and she has changed my “dental life” in ways that no one else has been able to in nearly 30 years of going to the dentist as an adult. Without going into the dental details, her approach to her job and passion to help others should be held-up as an example to all professionals.
1. She has a passion to improve others’ lives.
Sandra talks constantly how she loves her job because she gets to help people improve their lives. She takes pride in her work when the health of her patients improve because she has both educated them and convinced them to follow the methods she teaches
2. She is technically competent.
Simply said, she knows her profession very well and stays current in techniques and technology.
3. She has the respect of her peers and management.
Sandra won her company’s award for the best hygienist in 2011. The dentist from her office did as well. As I said before, it is a great dental practice.
4. She is fun to work with.
Sandra makes me laugh which is no easy feat; how “fun” is a visit to the dentist? I intentionally schedule my appointments at 8am so I can start these 2 days a year with a laugh and a meeting with a true professional.
What can we learn from the “Sandra’s” in our lives?
