Today many complain they are afflicted with the “Busyness Syndrome.” It’s only symptom is the patient’s use of “overwhelmed” or “too busy” to describe their condition. I have a simple solution that requires no trip to the doctor or pharmacy, but it is more difficult to implement than either of those options. I call it the “Three Ps to Stopping Busyness” and they are:
- Push back
See how simple it is? Too bad it involves activities that most are uncomfortable doing. The problem is that most of us do not want to “disappoint” someone else, so we interpret every request as a command.
We are healthy adults and must have enough self-respect and self-esteem to place ourselves first. If not, we will allow every parent, child, co-worker, boss, DMV clerk… to rule our lives.
